Perspex

Perspex Cast Acrylic features:

  • Excellent resistance to outdoor weathering
  • Low density, making it lightweight and economical
  • Good scratch and chemical resistance
  • Can be cold bent within certain limits
  • 17 times stronger than glass
  • High gloss, hard surface
  • Durability / long lifespan
  • Good thermoformability
  • Fully recyclable
  • Easy to clean
  • UV Stability
  • Exceptional light transmission with no inherent edge colour on clear material
  • More transparent than glass with 92% light transmission and half the weight of glass
  • Fire retardant thermal properties ensure burning Perspex Cast Acrylic produces little smoke and
does not promote the spread of fire.

Extruded Acrylic

Ideal for retail projects – Extruded Acrylic, medium impact (Ml) and ultra-high impact (UHI), has properties similar to Cast Acrylic. Due to its lower molecular weight, however, designers and fabricators worldwide choose extruded acrylic sheeting because of its: lower crazing; chemical and solvent resistance; and better vacuum forming definition.

Extruded Acrylic features:

  • More transparent than glass with 92% light transmission and half the weight of glass
  • Good weather and UV resistance make it suitable for outdoor applications
  • Non-toxic fumes emitted in fire and quickly extinguished with water.
  • Excellent colour consistency and stability
  • Easily thermoformed and machined
  • Scratched surfaces are easily polished
  • Ultra-high impact resistance

ABS

ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a thermoplastic manufactured by Perspex SA locally that combines the strength and rigidity of acrylonitrile and styrene polymers with the toughness of polybutadiene rubber. It is not suitable for outdoor use unless UV stabilizers are added. Many variations of ABS are offered including ASA, a UV-resistant ABS. Can be manufactured in corporate colours, but minimum order quantities are required.

ABS features:

  • Tough but lightweight
  • High rigidity and impact strength
  • Excellent electrical insulating properties
  • Easy to thermoform
  • Can be printed, cut and glued
  • Easily recycled
  • UV stabilizers can be added when manufactured for outdoor use

PETG

PETG features:

  • Excellent chemical resistance and impact properties
  • Good optical properties and a brilliant surface for printing
  • Easy to vacuum form and needs no pre-drying
  • Exceptional low-temperature performance
  • Low water absorption
  • Easy to recycle

Polycarbonate

Offering 200 times more impact resistance than glass at only half the weight – Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic renowned for its impact-resistant toughness, affordability, and ease of moulding, and fabricating. It is ideal for cold curving, thermoforming and vacuum forming.

Polycarbonate is resistant to high and low temperatures, is low maintenance and is available in various abrasion-resistant, UV resistant and bulletproof grades. These characteristics and manufacturing options make polycarbonate perfect for manufacturing industrial, security, domestic, electrical and automotive products.

A 10-year warranty is standard with Perspex South Africa’s solid polycarbonate sheets.

Polypropylene

Perspex South Africa locally manufactures leading, general-purpose PP (Polypropylene). Used in a wide variety of applications including packaging, plastic parts, containers, labelling, textiles, stationery, and appliances – polypropylene thermoplastic delivers reliability.

Used for:

  • Automotive
  • Industrial
  • Chemical storage
  • Fume cabinets
  • Household containers
  • Packaging
    Tank building
  • Ducting
  • Food contact application
  • Layer boards

ACM

Aluminium composite sheets are a cost-effective and high-quality alternative to solid aluminium sheets.

They have a great weight advantage being much lighter and easier to process and fabricate compared to aluminium sheets. ACM has NO scrap value. ACM is made up of a Polyethylene sheet bonded with a skin (from 0.12 to 0.5mm thick) of aluminium on both sides. It looks and feels like an aluminium sheet. However, the sheet is very easy to cut or bend and can be ordered in any colour, this colour is then applied to it with a high-end accurate finish. Self-adhesive vinyl can be applied to the ACM.

ACM is great for franchises where the average life of the corporate image is 8 -10 years. You may need a combination of cladding and self-adhesive vinyl applications. Great for building cladding, as no painting will be required for a very long time. The Signage grade has a lifespan of approximately 10 years [with polyester PE factory coating on it] and it can be painted [although not recommended as UV life with paint is shorter].
